BUILT TO A STANDARD, NOT JUST A LOOK.
Protective gear only means something if it's actually tested. Here's exactly where Ironridge is on that path, and where we're headed.
THE STANDARDS WE'RE TARGETING
Every Ironridge product is designed from day one around a specific European protective clothing standard:
- The Flinders (jacket): EN 17092-2:2020 Class AAA, with shoulder and elbow armour rated to EN 1621-1 Level 2 and a back protector rated to EN 1621-2 Level 2.
- The Canning (pant): EN 17092-2:2020 Class AAA, with knee and hip armour rated to EN 1621-1 Level 2.
- The Devils Marbles (glove): EN 13594:2015 Level 2 KP.
- The Bourke (boot): EN 13634:2017, including bilateral ankle protection and reinforced toe and heel.
WHERE WE ARE RIGHT NOW
These certifications have not been issued yet. The Flinders, our first release, is currently moving through development: fit and construction are being resolved on our first development sample, armour certificates are being independently verified, and we're confirming exactly what our manufacturer's testing quotation covers before any garment goes to accredited testing.
We won't call a product AAA certified, CE certified or Level 2 until we're holding the paperwork that proves it.
THE PATH FROM HERE
- Finalise fit, armour placement and construction on our development sample.
- Build a production-intent sample using the exact materials, armour and construction that will ship.
- Send that sample for accredited pre-compliance testing, then formal EN certification.
- Freeze the certified specification and verify that production garments match it.
- Once a product is commercially available, submit it to MotoCAP for independent, real-world testing.
WHY MOTOCAP AS WELL AS EN CERTIFICATION
EN 17092 is a pass/fail compliance standard. MotoCAP, run through Deakin University's Institute for Frontier Materials, is an independent Australian and New Zealand program that star-rates commercially available gear for impact protection, abrasion resistance and thermal comfort, so riders can compare real products rather than marketing claims. We're building Ironridge gear to perform well on both.
OUR COMMITMENT
We'll update this page as each product moves through testing, and we'll only publish a certification claim once it's backed by a valid certificate for that exact product. If you have questions about where a specific product is up to, get in touch.
